Located in South Carolina, Charleston is one of the United States' oldest and most historic cities. Our chapter, chartered November 10, 1947, includes organists, choir directors, pianists, and other interested musicians and music lovers.
In the picture above, framed by the majestic Ravenel Bridge spanning the Cooper River from Charleston to Mount Pleasant, are the spires of some of Charleston's most celebrated churches. Starting on the far right and moving left, are the white spire of St. Michael's Church (cornerstone laid in 1752), the brown spire of St. Philip's Church (est. 1680), the red brick spire of the Catholic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (cornerstone laid in 1850), the square spire of the Unitarian Church in Charleston (dedicated in 1787), and the domed spire of St. John's Lutheran Church (dedicated in 1767).
