7:00-ish: Walk to St. Michael's
7:15-ish: Program 2
We gather at St. Philip's chapel where Chris Walchesky will give a little history about Charleston's oldest organ. Still operated by a hand bellows, members can play and operated the instrument. Then, we walk or ride by pedicab to St. Michael's where Paul Reese will play 25 hymns, and members will be tested on discerning the hymn tunes. Prizes will be offered for winners. The evening will conclude with a lavish coffee and dessert social.

Members will play a recital featuring the works of the prolific, 20th-century American composer of accessible organ and choral literature, Dr. Gordon Young (1919–1998). This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the “new” church building and the Zimmer pipe organ. Cornel Zimmer will be on hand to share recollections of assisting his grandfather and father with the installation, and one of the church's long-time parishioners will share a brief history of the church.
