INSPIRING WORSHIP
The 11th Annual University of Florida Sacred Music Workshop

This year’s workshop will begin on the evening of Sunday, May 6 with an organ recital by College of the Arts graduate Shawn Thomas at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Gainesville. On Monday, May 7, Peter Kinzie from Classic Church Organs will present a workshop on MIDI technology at the Episcopal Chapel of the Incarnation. Christopher Jacobson, Duke University Chapel Organist, will then host sessions on service playing and anthem accompaniment. Monday evening’s event will be a hymn festival led by Mr. Jacobson & organ recital by UF organ students held in the University Auditorium. Additional events will include sessions on the aging voice, handbells, and a choral reading session.

The workshop will conclude on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 8, with an organ masterclass led by UF organ professor, Laura Ellis. For more information please visit https://uflsmw.wixsite.com/home or email Laura at LREllis@ufl.edu.

FURMAN UNIVERSITY SUMMER KEYBOARD INSTITUTE

The Summer Keyboard Institute offers young pianists and organists, ages 12-18, a unique major and minor style of study in a variety of keyboard areas. Designed for intermediate and advanced pianists and organists, all students study piano or organ as their primary then select a secondary area in organ, piano, ensemble piano, music technology or improvisation. Daily events also include musicianship classes, master classes, faculty recitals and recreational activities. All students perform at the end of the week. For an additional fee, private lessons are offered in all areas of study including organ. The evening faculty recitals begin at 7:30pm and are open to the public. Keyboard website:
